Xi Jinping, the paramount leader of China, implemented a stringent three-year "zero-Covid" policy, yet all that was accomplished was to confine people to their homes for extended periods of time.
When Xi rescinded the zero-Covid policy last month as a result of unexpected citizen protests, coronavirus cases went out of control.
Xi is absent from the action as Chinese medical facilities in Beijing, Shanghai, and other regions of China struggle to handle the increase in coronavirus cases.
