Axis Energy Ventures India announced on Saturday that it had commissioned a 445 MW solar plant in Rajasthan in collaboration with Brookfield Renewables.

Axis Energy Ventures India Private Limited said in a statement that the project is part of the 'ABC Renewables' joint venture platform, which was inked with Brookfield Renewables to establish a 5 gigawatt (GW) big utility renewable energy portfolio in India.

"Under the ABC Renewables platform, Axis Energy and Brookfield Renewable (have) commissioned a 445 MW solar project in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, in a record span of six months," according to a statement.

The firm did not provide any financial information on the project.

According to industry estimates, every 1 MW of solar capacity requires a total expenditure of around 4.5 crore.

According to the company, the project will prevent 6 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions every year, which is the equivalent of growing 24 million trees, while also generating 800 GWh (gigawatt hour) of renewable energy yearly.

Axis Energy Chairman and Managing Director K Ravi Kumar Reddy stated, "The platform has had tremendous success and takes satisfaction in commissioning a project that will help the country achieve ecologically friendly goals.

We also want and plan to embark on projects that will make the most positive benefits to the environment "..

Hyderabad-based Axis Energy is a decade-old developer of wind and solar projects.
