Footwear firm Khadim India celebrates founder's 96th birth anniversary
Khadim India, a footwear company, commemorated the 96th birthday of its founder, Satya Prasad Roy Burman, on Saturday.
Burman got into the shoe business because he saw a demand for low-cost, high-quality footwear. The company began modestly in 1965, with a little shoe store in Chitpur, Kolkata.
However, after establishing itself in the market as a seller and distributor of branded basic utility footwear, Khadim entered the retail sector in 1993 under Burman's leadership. In the process, the company evolved from a footwear wholesaler to a manufacturer, retailer, and distributor.
Khadim now has 799 retail locations and a distribution network of 575 wholesalers. Khadim has the strongest presence in eastern India and is one of the top three players in South India; it is a newcomer in West and North India.
The company is making aims to become the country's second largest retail footwear brand. The moment has come to collaborate, develop, and exploit strengths in order to achieve pivotal positions in business categories, according to the corporation.
With bags, wallets, and belts, Khadim's has entered the accessory market.
