Punjab Election Results 2022 LIVE updates: The Aam Aadmi Party is all set to gain control over Punjab in their first big win outside Delhi. In a massive gain from their 2017 result, AAP is leading in more than half the seats of the state assembly pushing Congress to a distant second in the state, according to the leads.
For months ahead of the polls, Congress battled anti-incumbency and internal strife with Congress state chief and the chief minister not being on the same page. What started between Navjot Sidhu and Amarinder Singh continued between Sidhu and Charanjit Singh Channi as well, after Channi replaced Amarinder Singh. However, Congress put up a united face after Channi was declared the CM candidate. The Shiromani Akali Dal contested the election with the Bahujan Samaj Party. BJP tied up with Amarinder Singh's Punjab Lok Congress and SAD (Sanyukt) led by SS Dhindsa.
